e all'intervento psicosociale è straordinario. Lewin appartiene
livelli: epistemologico, teorico, metodologico e tecnico.
Livello epistemologico - Psicosociologia
fantasie, emozioni, motivazioni, ossessioni invisibili come fattori
determinanti dei comportamenti concreti e visibili. Saint Exupery
Ogni sistema è sempre in equilibrio quasi-stazionario.
su tre fasi cicliche: congelamento (equilibrio), scongelamento (cambiamento,
ri-congelamento (ri-equilibria).
In
L'individuo
solo come ricordo o speranza.
Livello metodologico - Action-Research
Se vuoi conoscere qualcosa, prova a cambiarla.
L'osservatore modifica l'oggetto osservato. Questo concetto, basilare
in psicologia, è stato sviluppato da
Lewin come metodo per promuovere cambiamenti. La conoscenza di sè
modifica il sè. Conoscere il mondo è il primo passo
per cambiarlo. Ma senza un prima e un dopo. Non è prima conoscere
e poi modificare. Questa sarebbe una normale ricerca. E' invece
Noi, significa io, tu, coppia e gruppo.
Ora, significa tempo presente; non ricordi o speranze ma realismo;
azione e reazione; immediatezza.
orgasmica e generativa e, su piccola scala, rivoluzionaria. Forse
come l'attuale, sta consegnando all'oblìo la tecnica lewiniana.

In recalling Lewin, I cannot fail to note that
his splendid contributions are now obsolete, like all sciences and
social practices. Humanism is on the wane and consequently all the
sciences and practices that have supported and spread it are.
2017 marked the 70th anniversary of Kurt Lewin's death. His contribution
to the history of psychology, training and psychosocial intervention
is extraordinary. Lewin belongs to the Gestalt Theory family, but
applied to praxis rather than just perception (like the predecessors
Kurt Koffka,
Wolfgang Köhler and Max Wertheimer). No author has been so
generative for psychosocial practice. Lewin became interested in
psychology applied to politics, the Jewish question, social work.
Kurt Lewin left meaningful thinking on four different levels: epistemological,
theoretical, methodological and technical.
Epistemological level - Psychosociology
There is nothing more concrete than a good theory.
This Lewinian statement is contradicted daily by the dozens of models,
practices and proposals for interventions invented the day before,
without roots, without theoretical foundations, and circulated with
"soap opera" marketing techniques.
What produces consequences is real. This lapidary
phrase is the basis of all psychology that considers invisible fantasies,
emotions, motivations, obsessions as determining factors of concrete
and visible behaviors. Saint Exupery paraphrased Lewin with "...
the essential is invisible to the eye ..". To say it to F.
Fornari: "the order of the day is intertwined with the order
of the night".
Unfortunately, those who live to manipulate the psyche of the masses
such as the media, financial and political potentates go to great
lengths to minimize or deny that concrete behaviors are, to a large
extent, their product.
Each system is always in quasi-stationary equilibrium.
Individuals, groups, organizations, communities and societies at
the moment appear to be solid and stable systems, but their balance
is only quasi-stationary. Observed at -1 or +1 they turn out to
be different. Lewin's last decisive reflection follows: change is
an undulatory process based on three cyclical phases: freezing (equilibrium),
thawing (change, re-freezing (re-equilibria). This process can be
studied and controlled, but the decline of sciences and social practices
leaves it to the mere clash between the forces in the field.
Theoretical level - Field theory
The whole is different from the sum of the parts.
In metaphor, a group is an "egg" (Lewin's students called
the one that followed his seminars "egg group"), not a
bunch of grapes. That is, a group is a new and different system
from its members, not a collection of individuals united by weak
bonds.
Lewin has placed at the center of his work wholes, totality, community,
network, structuralism, holism against fragmentation, archipelagos,
partialities and solitudes that constitute the nucleus of Western
neuroses. It focused on interdependent relationships against the
individual and impersonal molochs; shared sovereignty
against the hierarchy.
For Lewin, the part and the whole are different but equivalent (psycho-sociology).
The individual does not exist, the whole does not exist: the individual
is the whole. This equivalence allows a legitimate theoretical excursion
from the micro to the macro, from the intrapsychic to the relational,
from the group to the organizational, from the community to the
political. The individual is a fractal of the family, the family
is a fractal of the community, the community and organizations are
a fractal of society. The group is a "transmission belt"
between the individual and the organization or community.
Unfortunately, Modernity is characterized by fragmentation, whereby
each system is segmented and the fragments experience unity only
as a memory or hope.
If in a group an individual behaves in an eccentric, divergent or
transgressive way, it is easy to say that these behaviors are the
result of a group that needs them, stimulates and supports them.
Everyone knows that a leader is the expression of the group, contrary
to the leader.
When we register policemen who steal and deal, judges who rig up
trials, politicians who commit crime, pedophile prelates, we rush
to talk about "bad apples" in a healthy and meritorious
tree. When policemen, judges, politicians or prelates are killed
we are talking about martyrs and heroes, we neglect that their sacrifice
is also the fruit of a whole that needs scapegoats to survive. The
opposite of what Lewin teaches.
In both cases we refuse to see the responsibility and the role of
the whole, avoiding its change. Guilty and victim are always a defense
of the system that produces them.
Methodological level - Action-Research
If you want to know something, try changing it. The observer
modifies the observed object. This concept, basic in psychology,
was developed by
Lewin as a method of promoting change. Self-knowledge modifies the
self. Knowing the world is the first step to change it. But without
a before and after. It is not first to know and then to modify.
This would be a normal search. Instead, it is a gradual and simultaneous
process.
Research-intervention participated by the actors is the method introduced
by Lewin to promote individual, group, organizational and community
changes. In the research-intervention subject and object change
together. Individuals participate in the study of the "force
field" in which they are inserted (group, family, work, city),
and in doing so, they simultaneously change themselves and the field.
The problem is that with the research-intervention it is the participants,
the actors of the system, who change themselves and the whole they
are part of. Not the powerful, the leaders, the enlightened who
direct and decide the changes from above, but the individuals who
express their sovereignty, knowing and changing the reality in which
they live.
Technical level - T-Group
The most powerful social science technique of the 20th century
(Carl Rogers). It should be remembered that the T-Group was born
during a seminar for social workers and, according to J.Luft, thanks
to the intervention of a participating woman. And it should be emphasized
that the T-Group is a type of intervention-research. Participants
get to know themselves and the group as they bring it into being,
live and evolve.
The basic rule of the T-Group is: we, here, now. Everything else
is free and unknown, as long as it remains in the grid of human,
time and space present.
Noi, means me, you, couple and group. The centrality is on the feelings,
thoughts and individual behaviors that emerge "here and now",
in the creation of bonds, belonging, plurality, together, team,
team, team.
Here, it means present space, boundaries, intimacy / strangeness,
power and sovereignty, movement or stillness. In the T-Group everyone
is responsible for the space.
Now, it means present tense; not memories or hopes but realism;
action and reaction; immediacy. In the T-Group everyone is responsible
for time.
The Morenian "hall of mirrors" is the place of communication,
identification, confrontation, but it is also the place of the sovereignty
of each participant over time and space. A sovereignty that today
counts much more than monetary wealth.
The ritual of the T-Group is a technical re-production of the merger
and birth of an entity other than the members who create it. The
place of the maximum possible expression of the participants and
at the same time the birth of a new whole.
In summary, the T-Group can be assimilated to an orgasmic and generative
experience and, on a small scale, revolutionary. Perhaps for this
reason, a conservative, neo-puritan and sex-phobic society like
the present one is consigning the Lewinian technique to oblivion.
